Under the thundering A13, the grounds of the Ford Automotive Plant in East London is an oasis for insects, birds and flowers of all descriptions. Paradise Lost: Ao Nang, Thailand

It is the classic conflict of tourism: when the enviromental pressure of so many visitors destroys the beauty that they sought in the first place. For the people of Ao Nang, a drab and depressing tourist town on the exquisite coast of Krabi, visitors bring jobs and money. But even among the tacky shops and cheap tattoo parlours, the warm and sunny disposition of the Thai people shines through.

Terry Rawlings Benefit Gig at the 100 Club

Acclaimed music writer, Terry Rawlings, is one of the seminal documenters of British Pop and Rock. His labour of love - 'Mod -  A Very British Phenomenon' - hit the best seller lists. The enormous respect and warmth he has generated in the music industry was vividly portrayed at a benefit gig held in his honour to raise money for his fight against a rare form of cancer. Friends from the world of Punk and Mod lined up to support the event, including Clash guitarist Mick Jones, Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, Buzzcock Steve Diggle and Ocean Colour Scene frontman Simon Fowler. It was an inspiring night.
